My aunt and I took a side trip off U.S. Highway 29 to visit the home place of Earl Hamner, Jr. Tour costs $10/person to tour the house only. (The museum across the road was closed on the Friday we stopped by.) Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable as he grew up in the area. A bed and breakfast inn was constructed 2 years ago, which is up the hill from the house, and it's within walking distance. The house can be rented for $300/ night, which sleeps 6 people. Breakfast is included at the inn.

I haven't heard about them all being there, but the guy who played John Boy was there last weekend. If you have facebook Walton's mountain has a page on there that can give you more information.
