Great rest stop/area just off US-35 and OH-7 in Gallipolis, OH. Our family stopped there for a picnic during our road trip, and we really enjoyed the large trees providing shade and the covered picnic area. The bathroom facilities haven't been updated in a while, but more importantly, they were clean and felt safe. The family bathroom is nice for privacy when changing a toddler, so kudos to ODOT for installing that. If you're traveling through southeastern OH, this is a nice rest stop to use.

WV Almost Heaven (Montani Semper Liberi)

One of our FAVORITE Ohio Rest Area, if not the favorite. It is always prestinely maintained. This rest area is a rare oddity, in that there are zero high traffic rest area bathroom smells! It may be that the pedestrian traffic is much lower than say on I-70. But when you look at how the exterior grounds are kept and how very clean the interior surfaces are it has to be contributed to high maintenance/cleaning standards. The picnic area and shelters (with tables) are immaculate. They are ensconced in a beautifully shaded area amongst very mature trees. Their is a pleasant bucolic view of the river which is so close you can hear the water waves from the river traffic as it goes by. Thank you Ohio Department of Transporatation, good job. This location also has some interesting historical significance, as referenced the Silver 🌉 Bridge Disaster. There is on static display an eye-bar from the Silver Bridge. Stop here, it will refresh.
