My husband and I wanted to learn more about the area we just moved too. The trails are nice and peaceful, the hike up to the monument was steep and a great way to work out. I liked that a lot of signing is being updated to show the native's side of things and they got to tell the store from their side in the small film. Best part is this is all free, a beautiful place to visit and just walk and enjoy nature.

Peaceful, beautiful place for a morning visit. A ranger greeted us, was very helpful and directed us to an infomative and historically balanced movie about events leading up to and following the deaths of the missionaries in 1847. It was important to me to see this to challenge what I was taught in high school many years ago regarding that history.

We enjoyed our visit to the Whitman Mission National Historic Site. We had not been before and brought a couple of family members with us. We all enjoyed the Visitor Center and the walking trails. Visitor center staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Restrooms were clean. It was a very nice break from Wine Tasting. We will be coming back for more of the walking trails and to have a picnic.

Another NPS dedicated to the struggles between Natives and the colonizers and proselytizers. The exhibits were fantastic and the short, but steep, hike up the paved path to the memorial provided beautiful views of the area. There are more grounds to explore but we happened to visit on a very hot day. The ranger was kind and informative and was sure to warn us about the heat and the hike.

Lots of history, very nicely laid out.

I don't think they sell passes but admission is free.

When was the place built? Not the houses, but the museum.

Yes, but it is still exciting to imagine. You can do d photos of the cabins in historical books if I remember correctly from my youth.

Sure is! And there's something to see on the grounds year round, too.

Are there any open spaces available
