Re: Costco Optical Department. I should have probably only given one star here. If you use this Department expect rude, arrogant, unsophisticated employees for the most part so choose carefully who you will accept assistance from. This is a bare bones, basement type of environment with one size fits all. Eyeglass frame selection is very weak and you don't expect to receive personalized quality customer care. You get what you pay for, and at Costco Optical you can expect below average customer service from an irritable unfriendly staff who offer only a very narrow range of options. My second star is for the one and only female employee who has been courteous and helpful. Update 2021. Nothing has changed for the better in this department, in fact things have gotten worse. Not only is staff ill prepared, the quality of the optical lenses has declined. The most peculiar aspect is the fact that staff tell me they are unable to resubmit lenses whenever there may be an error. I am advised that Costco management has set this policy. This may have something to do with the fact that they no longer send their work to a qualified lab, they are now doing the lab work 'in house.' My latest fiasco was agreeing to pay more for thinner lens, but that did not materialize, the lenses were thicker than anything I have ever seen. Having met with arguments and even having been told I should take my business elsewhere because of their inability to accept their own errors, I decided I would indeed go elsewhere rather than fight with the diminished capacity and bizarre behavior in this Costco department.

Wonderful service and a quick turnaround on getting my wife's glasses back. The doctor was extremely helpful and patient during my wife's examination. We got her prescription 6 days after ordering her glasses.

I love Dr. Dora Szymanowicz & costco vision pricing! I know the other reviews aren't pleasant but my experience was great. The place you go for the eye exam is the little office next to the frame counter, there really isn't enough room for more than one or two people to wait at a time which is nice because you should call and get an appointment or at least confirm that they aren't booked that day first...the two ladies who handled the retinal scan and the paperwork were incredibly friendly and courteous. The eye doctor, Dr. Dora Szymanowicz was so attentive and intelligent and gracious and patient. She has a nice little office in the back and she takes her time listening to your concerns/symptoms. I highly recommend and will see her again. The next step, ordering the frames, at the frame counter requires "pulling a number" like at the DMV, however its extremely fast-and the ability to shop for the right fit while you wait is perfect. Sam was the person who helped me order my glasses, and he was super patient and kind as well. It was really loud, my two young boys were with me, and he handled it with class. I really enjoyed the experience and saved a lot of money going here over some other options in town. Might even be worth getting a membership at Costco if you need contacts or glasses !

They closed the exam department.
It is recommended but not necessary as the doctor tries to take in all the walkins. Sometimes it may result in a little bit of wait tho
