We've been in search of great Italian food since moving to Henderson from New York 5 years ago. After reading the great reviews we decided to try the Pasta Shop. It is a fairly small place, decorated with tons of modern art for sale. It wasn't very crowded on a Sunday early evening. However, I could see a problem when they are busy. The table behind us was so close that I don't think a person could have been seated behind me without our chairs touching. We were greeted immediately by a friendly young lady who offered us water and brought bread. The first sign of a great Italian restaurant is good bread. This should have been a warning sign that we were in for a less than stellar meal. The bread looked like a soggy ciabatta roll topped with cheese and warmed a bit. It had no flavor, and the texture was limp as if it was microwaved or just warmed so quickly it did not have a crisp crust. The bottom of the bread had a coating of white flour that made it taste undercooked. I asked for a recommendation and she said the baked rigatoni was the way to go. So I ordered it with chopped meatballs. It's supposed to have 4 cheeses and come in a rose sauce. My husband ordered the classic vegan option. This is the description copy/pasted from their website "Tomato sauce, vegan meatballs, one spicy sausage, fresh basil." Let's start with that. He noticed there was no sausage in the dish. We pointed it out and she said "it's either meatballs OR sausage, not both. Then she quickly scooted away before we could say anything else. Well, if there is a typo on the menu, then why wasn't he offered the choice when we ordered? The tomato sauce was not very flavorful and the meatballs had no flavor at all. Now on to the baked rigatoni. The dish was so hot I could not even taste it for over 10 minutes without burning my mouth. Next I could not detect 4 cheeses in the dish, just mozzarella. The meatballs mixed in had an odd texture like they had been steamed and not sautéed before being added to the dish. The sauce was flat, with little flavor other than tasting of cream. We would have liked some grated cheese but none was offered. I tried to get her attention several times but it seemed she was the only server working and by the time she came over to us again, we were just ready to leave. I ate very little of my rigatoni and since we got such a dismissive answer about the vegan dish we just decided to get the check and leave. $50 for two underwhelming meals and dismissive service is just not our idea of a great evening out. And before the owner mentions we should have pointed out our issues while in the restaurant, we tried and were blown off. We shouldn't have to get up from our table to track the server down, get told we were wrong about our order and then expect them to be responsive about our other issues in our meal.

Our favorite little secret tucked away in suburbia. All the pastas are super, and the wine selection decent. Service can be mixed, sometimes they ignore ore you, sometimes attentive, but if you want good pasta this is the place!

Excellent experience all around! Fantastic service, delicious pastas, & great dessert! Very homey feel with all the art hung up on the walls & even on the tables too! Full vegan menu available**! Order the lobster mac, only available on weekends which was phenomenal! We also got Anne's pasta which was also delicious, the flourless chocolate cake for dessert was the cherry on top! Great date night spot, will definitely be back soon!

Had high expectations but was disappointed. Not overly large semi dark interior with apparently no air-conditioning. There were some ceiling fans but they were on low most likely because it would get the diners eating below them food would get cold. Service is slow and unattentive. For a pasta shop I would have appreciated choices or preparations I wouldn't necessarily make at home. We started with the Artichoke which was good and recommended. Also, the Bruschetta, this was not so good and barely touched. I gave the Shrimp Fra Diablo a try and added shrimp, no lobster choice. Well this was the widest linguine I've had could have been a fettuccine. I don't like a lot of spice I feel it can mask the meals flavor. However this dish had no spice at all 😥. My wife and daughter both had the Lobster Mac and Cheese. They both liked their choice and recommend it. It was so hot inside nobody wanted to try any dessert. If you have an Italian background and eat pasta regularly this may not be the place for you.
