Had an amazing time at Fashionista on Sunday - they'd just gotten in a LOAD of fantastic leather jackets at great prices and the place was swarming with happy shoppers, including me!

Fashionista is a gem of a shop where ever item has a story. This is a carefully curated collection of top quality vintage clothing and accessories, lovingly displayed in the hope of finding each piece a new owner who will treasure it. I stopped in on a recent summer evening to look around. A tunic caught my eye — my colors, my style, my size! And designed by a couturier from Paris (or so the tag said). It was so much like me that it could have come from my closet! Another orphan found a new home. Fashionista is not a thrift store. That being said, the prices are very fair for the quality. Rental is also an option. When you have a little time, come on over and see what Fashionista has to offer. You will not be disappointed.

Best vintage shop in CT hands down. Amazing selection of clothing and accessories dating back to the 60s, 70s and 80s. Staff is very kind and welcoming, especially Tod! Very helpful and knowledgeable. Will absolutely be going back to this gem of a place.

Questions & Answers

Do you buy the clothes outright or sell and then give money to donor?

We see vintage clothing (men's & women's) in volume, by appointment only. We buy outright, up front, low dollar.

What are the Covid safety practices like here?

We are always masked, and so are the customers. Fashionista has 14-foot high ceilings and five windows that open, so there is great air circulation. We have dressing room rules: if you try on a garment and it doesn't work for you, you put it in a laundry basket to be either steamed or quarantined. These days we're only open to the public one day a week; the rest of the time, people make appointments for private shopping, alone or with their pods. Hand sanitizer pumps are at the entrance and scattered throughout the store.

Do you buy back an item worn once for an event?

We do not buy back items, but everything in the shop is available to rent. If you're only going to wear something once, that's the way to go.

Hey do you know when youll be opening back up?

Melissa Stclair | Aug 27, 2021

Hi Melissa: As you've probably noticed, we have moved to a new location in the Marlin Works building in the East Rock neighborhood of New Haven. It is not a regular storefront; we will be open to the public for certain pre-determined hours, and available for shopping by appointment other times. Right now we're shooting for September 10th. Stay tuned to FB and Instagram for updates. In the meantime, was there something specific you are looking for? We might be able to help.
