John is a just a top-notch teacher. Extremely patient and he takes into account what your personal goals are in teaching you. He bent over backwards coming in early morning for special classes for years and gave everyone who stuck with it wins and certainty in physically handling others if necessary. He is very knowledgeable and professional in his technology and is always looking to learn more himself. You can tell he simply loves teaching others what he has learned. I cannot recommend jiujitsu and this school strongly enough you would like to learn how to take all uncertainty out of defending yourself. Garrett

This place is the most professional and comfortable environment to learn jiu-jitsu. John is the best instructor i have had in almost 9 years of this sport. He is great with kids and adults. Everyone is welcome. I trust john with my own children. As a retired police officer, I would also recommend this school for cops who want to learn the best control techniques for suspects. I was on SWAT for over 10 years and John is legit. There are several cops that attend this school from everyday patrol guys to SWAT team leaders.

I've been at Gracie Barra Clearwater for almost a year now, this is a great place to train. Professor John is an awesome instructor regardless of your skill level. Very family friendly and safe environment, overall a great place to train for anyone. Highly recommend.
