Salmon were still jumping in late June. It was something I had never experienced before. The falls were easy to access with a short hike and led to Fern Falls.

Above these falls is the beginning of the famed fly-only section on the N F Umpqua. The setting is heavenly and the fishing is... Fishing, with a decent chance of catching. The locals here are very accommodating. Lots of ways to enjoy this area. Stop and pick up any of the numerous Forest Service fold outs to coax you out of your car and closer to the water

Beautiful place to visit in the summer when the water is comparatively lower. If you go across the bridge by the viewpoint to the trailhead of the N Umpqua Trail you can hike about 1/4 mile to the waterfall. You'll get to climb over large rocks and small streams right next to the falls and hike behind it to a large pool for swimming or site seeing.

Easy hike, 4-7 year olds did it just fine. Nice wooded trail, bring bug spray. You can hike past the viewing point and get closer to the river and the just below the fall.
