We've had our solar shingles for about a month and it's been nothing but disappointment and headache. Short version: GAF blatantly misled on us on the warranty and the shingles have produced significantly worse than estimated. Long version: We found out after installation that a crucial page had been left out of the proposal we were provided before signing the contract. That page said that the "solar power generation warranty" covers only 85% of the "solar power output warranty." We were in no way informed that only 85% of output is warranted and wouldn't have signed the contract if we'd known that. Traditional panels produce significantly more power per square foot, but we were willing to trade a little production for the guarantee. We wouldn't have traded another 15% of the already lower production for that guarantee. GAF acknowledges that the warranty information was left out, but offered no remedy. I was told "it was just a matter of timing" - sure, but providing information after a contract is signed rather than before is kinda a big deal! Despite a good stretch of weather, our system is producing less than 70% of what GAF estimated for this time of year. If it remains under 85%, the bait and switch on the warranty will cost us $5,000 over the length of the warranty (based on estimated energy costs provided by GAF). It looks like we'll need to take legal action, so the headaches will probably continue for years. Avoid at all costs.

Quite honestly I am surprised there are any reviews of actual service! I've called, emailed, and sent snail mail to GAF Energy and various contractors listed on their website over the last several months. Identically zero (0) of them have responded at all. To be honest, it appears GAF Energy is not in business! If any Google Reviewers know the trick to actual get a response from a human at GAF Energy, I'm eager to learn! Until then, one star and one star only for some of the most awful customer service ever! Regrettably, at no point did I opt out of emails or any other form of communication. Hopefully whatever went wrong in GAF Energy's systems can be resolved and actual progress be made towards a solar roof installation! EDIT 2: Just re-entered my information on your online form. Email is best way to reach me! Looking forward to hearing from GAF Energy. EDIT 3: After posting this review, I got a response from a GAF Energy-assigned solar roofer! So, thanks Google! I'll leave the review at 3 stars until I get the design and project completed, then post another update.

We have had such an excellent experience installing GAF energy solar on our house. It was a leap of faith, getting a new roof plus solar, but it ended up being a smooth process and we LOVE having solar. The GAF panels look great and, of course, the best part is that our energy bill shrank immediately. Both the local contractor, Wedge Roofing, and Veronica and the GAF Energy team were extremely communicative, accessible, organized and trustworthy. Thanks to all!
