We took our dog for a hike to Stonewall Falls. It's a short easy hike down a gated road to the waterfall. It's not big, but very scenic and easy to reach and the area around the falls is nice to sit and enjoy nature. In the warmer months, you could splash around in the water. There are two mountain bike trails (Stonewall Falls and White Twister) to extend the hike or bike the trails. We also found a few small waterfalls on Stonewall Creek above and below the main waterfall, though you'll have to scramble and bushwhack to see them. Beautiful area and I would visit again if nearby.

Absolutely beautiful hike and falls. Don’t take Googles Directions on road to turn on. Go past it and look for next road where you see signs for the White Twister bike trails. Once you get to parking area, walk down to first barricade you saw. Stay on main fire road and you can’t miss the falls.

Note - this is the TRAILHEAD, meaning the entrance. It will take a bit to get back to the falls. From Old 441/ South Main Street, look for the enterance on the west side of the road. There is a small brown US Forestry Dept sign. The main marker is part of a water treatment facility right there. You turn onto a dirt/gravel road. I would not take a car back there with lower ground clearance. You would probably be anle to do it, but might scrape in a couple sections. From the turn it is 1.2 miles back to the trailhead (fireroad) where you will hike by foot. There is a barrier up (see photo). Less than another 0.1 of a mile past this is an area to park. From the barrier to the falls is 0.4 mile. STAY ON THE FIREROAD. There are lots of nice hiking trails that turn off the fireroad, they WILL NOT get you to the falls. If you want an exact trail, I've added it in Strava as a segment which will help with the navigation. The water around the falls is relatively shallow. Great for kids to play in. Lots of shade and a beautiful location.

Questions & Answers

Is it dog friendly?

Yes. Gated off usually so you have to walk in. Popular place for the local crack heads & dope smokers unfortunately so watch your step. It is a beautiful tranquil place though and the waterfall is great to sit under.
