The ambience and setting get 3 stars. I was hoping for better. Our view was a brick wall and it was too hot to eat outside. The inside of the restaurant is nothing special. BUT the service and food get 5 stars. We had the best server, (I think her name was Emily?) and the food was incredible. I've had shrimp and grits all over the state of South Carolina and this was hands down the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. And there must have been 10 or 12 large shrimp in the dish. Both my husband and I had plenty of leftovers.

Very nice spot for lunch or dinner. Service was on point and friendly. We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon in early July. We were seated right away. We got the smoked wings, the triple play sliders and the brisket sandwich. Everything was tasty. The only thing we didn’t like so much was the complimentary corn bread due to being overly flaky and not sweet enough. We definitely will go back next time we are in Downtown Greenville.

The good: Prices are reasonable for food and drinks, and the specialty drinks are really good. The bartender was awesome. BBQ sauce choices are really good. Not so good: It was just two of us. They said 25 min for a table, which turned into an hour wait. The smoked meats were clearly not fresh, both brisket and ribs were dry. My waiter forgot to bring our appetizers which literally never came so I had to ask to remove them from the bill. The cornbread is terrible.

Hadn't been in a while so me and my lady stopped by. I usually take my food to go, but decided for the first time to dine in. Atmosphere was nice. Food was pretty good also! I went for the brisket, but almost left because I didn't see it on the menu. But, there are a few items that arent on the menu but are available like the brisket and the shrimp & grits. Of the 4 BBQ sauces to choose from, I really liked the mustard-based one best. They also have a Carolina-style cayenne vinegar based one, a sweeter tasting one, and a tomato based one.

Questions & Answers

Do yall take reservations?

Kelly Partridge | Jul 22, 2019
Dakota Fitzgerald | Jul 23, 2019

No reservations but a convenient "call-ahead" list will significantly decrease your wait time by about half and puts your group before all walk-ins; however, this is not a Reservation meaning there is no guarantee your table will be ready upon arrival. Feel free to call anytime whether days in advance or an hour before intended arrival. Smoke on the Water looks forward to your visit and appreciates your inquiry!

Please update, they are NOT open on Mondays

Smoke On the Water (Owner) | Nov 24, 2020

We unfortunately have been closed on Mondays since we reopened in May. Due to COVID-19, we had to make adjustments to our normal hours and menu. We have the correct hours on our website, and even pay a company to make sure our menus and hours are updated across all social media platforms. I apologize for any inconvenience, and we hope to be back open on Mondays in the near future.

My church group stopped in on 9/17/19, great food and service, would like to know about the 4 BBQ sauces on the table, one stood out to me and would like to know if it can be ordered and how much, the darker color sauce is what i'm interested in.
