The staff, nurses and doctors are doing their best. Yet, it seems the Hospital administration is more concerned with opening more cancer and speciality treatment centers then actually focusing on the ER and ICU. I've had issues in the past with my elderly parent and the lack of quality care in the ICU and I recently brought my family member to the ER whom had an actual emergency. One patient looked extremely sick and was literally curled up in a ball in the waiting room. His mother stated she had been waiting over two hours. Tired of waiting, she then physically carried him out to another hospital. We saw a child that had waited 20 minutes for an ambulance, only for the mother to bring him in due to the wait, bleeding profusely in the waiting room with very little acknowledgement. One patient finally was called in, only to be regulated to a hallway bed. I get there are other emergencies you may not see. We decided to leave and was seen at another hospital 15 minutes after walking through the door. It seems that administration is not focusing on staffing , as much as they are focusing on building new buildings. I am assuming it's because the ER and other depts aren't as profitable as their speciality centers. Yet, if people don't receive good care in the other areas, why would we chose them for any speciality care? After this last visit, I have been slowly changing our Drs to physicians whom are not WDH affiliated. I would avoid the ER here if you are able. To reiterate - Staff etc are doing their best- yet it seems the powers that be only want to have the bare minimal staffing and don't want to spend money on the actual staffing they need and expanding the ER. It's only a matter of time before Drs , nurses and support staff get burnt out.

If you have minor emergencies then yes maybe this is the place for you. You have a ear ache/infection or just don’t feel good need some minor meds then help yourself. Treatment as if you went to basic urgent care facility. However if you have a serious concern and need to be seen and addressed quickly. Then don’t waste your time. All you will encounter is immature sarcastic nurses who talk an giggle at their stations and speak loud to each patient at their door way for everyone to hear. Apparently most their staff must be ON call because you have to wait for certain technicians to arrive when and if their specialties are in need. Too many horror stories happen at this place just don’t wait for you too become one of them.

I was so shocked and disappointed with the service here. I DO NOT recommend coming here if you have a serious emergency. My friend was in severe pain with a cut, profusely bleeding foot, she was screaming, and crying but nobody gave her the time of day. We got there at 11:30pm, we waited for HOURS while other patients who came in after us got to see the doctor. I tried to ask the triage questions and he seemed to have no idea what he was talking about. We proceeded to leave after almost 2 hours of sitting and waiting. Thankfully we got IMMEDIATE care and help at the Portsmouth Regional Emergency room.

I have no idea why anyone would rate this place less than 5 starts. It is either "them" or maybe the hospital has made massive changes before my experience. I had surgery here the other day and omg I have never been treated so nicely anywhere. These ladies that helped me through were the sweetest. Like they were my moms. They always treated me with the utmost respect. Dr. Smithson did my surgery and he was wonderful as well! (And I am so picky when it comes to allowing anyone to do a procedure on my body). This is by far the best hospital ever. I have been to many, but this is my favorite. If I ever needed anything else in my life, I will be going here and I will be telling everyone about this hospital as well. Thank you everyone at Wentworth Douglas!

They have the best services for this
Are you not able to do it by phone?
I'm pretty sure you do, what with COVID. Call first (742-5252) and ask for the lab.
Maybe not immediately, but if results are sent to your primary, it will be electronic and just as timely as if your primary was located in N. H. Always call to make sure.
There is a long waiting list from what i know.
