My parents had a relatively good experience in independent living, but since they moved into assisted living at Maple Grove things have gone down hill. They have lied to them more than once about the hot water (there is none). Seniors need hot water for proper hygiene and tepid water could lead to a cold or pneumonia. There has been no resolution of this situation. At this point it is elder abuse, plus it is illegal to arbitrarily decide on water temperature for anyone in the state of Massachusetts. No one at Brooksby is doing anything about this. **UPDATE** after much back and forth and reporting the situation at the state and local levels it seems as if there is hot water now, but not after my parents being told different things by different people at the age of 90. **UPDATE** I have already spoken with Justin Paradis who talked over me and refuted everything I and my parents had reported on the situation. It was clear he wanted to intimidate me and he called to gloat after I already knew that the issue was resolved. My parents pay $14K a month in fees and this issue should have been tested and resolved before they walked in the door. Thankfully they have my brother and myself to advocate for them.

Outstanding place to live, very caring community: staff and residents! My wife and I have lived here for 22 months. B.V. has done a fabulous job during the pandemic...we think it is the safest place to live in Massachusetts!

My wife and I have lived at Brooksby Village, Peabody, MA for almost one year. We feel it has been one of the best decisions of our lives. We are treated like royalty for far less than a royalty price. We believe that the Brooksby experience can add years and many friends to your life. Do it while you can enjoy it. Hope to meet you at dinner. Ron and Maureen D'Addario

My parents lived there for three years. I had no issues with the place while they were living there but am extremely unhappy with the lack of communication since they have moved out. I have been trying to get someone to speak to me about how the sale of the unit is going since my mother is responsible for up to 90 Days of fees after the move out date until someone new moves in. I also have not been informed about when we can expect the refund of the large deposit that was made when they moved in even though I have emailed and called. They are very responsive when someone is looking to move in but obviously don’t care once you move out. They have your money and don’t have to rush to sell the unit since it’s paid for 90 Days. Very disappointing.

Not sure, but there are three Independent living aps and about 1500 people living here at Brooksby. Each of the three buildings have wings. There is also an Altzheimers unit and rehab as well as 4 restaurants and the food is wonderful. A lot of activity choices. There is, a wonderfully large gym and swimming pool.as well as lots of activities. You will never be board

What age do you have to be to move in here

Amanda Ireland | Aug 25, 2018
Allison Dolan | Aug 24, 2020

62 or 63. Although the more typical age is somewhere in 70s or 80s. MANY people say they waited too long before moving in. And most people live longer than they would have, had they stayed in their house (less stress!)

why did they get at 3 rating?

do you allow large dogs?

Thomas Follett | Aug 25, 2018
Allison Dolan | Aug 24, 2020

Brooksby allows pets of all types. They have to be 'registered' with Brooksby, and the resident has to have a backup plan in the event they can't care for the pet. Pets, of course, can't disturb neighbors. Dogs must always be on a leash in public. There is no 'doggie park'. You'd have to decide whether a large dog would be happy in an apartment.

Do you do six month lease?

John Smith | Aug 25, 2018
Allison Dolan | Aug 24, 2020

No - Brooksby has a one time 'entrance fee' ($100,000+), and 'monthly service fees'. Not a 'rent' or 'lease' community
