The people (residents and staff) continue to impress me with their genuine care and concern, friendliness and outgoing nature. The facility is beautiful and well maintained with a convenient location. The list of things to do is endless and the community as a whole are exercise conscious. It’s a small thing, but something that impressed me first off was the parking sign that said “Reserved for....”. Made us feel very important. I would highly recommend The Commons....If I didn’t know it was for senior living I would think I was at a resort.

What’s the mix of people (ages, education, backgrounds, interests, etc.) and what kinds of community activities are there?

It is a 62+ community, though most residents are older than the minimum age. Well educated people from a variety of backgrounds. Must purchase a meal plan, and pay for weekly housekeeping. Dining room is like a restaurant- many selections to choose from every night and there is a cafe with a free continental breakfast and open to buy lunch or dinner. A wide variety of activities published in a monthly calendar and each days activities are posted in several places. Active resident committees. Also has a nice fitness area and pool, as well as on-site physical therapy and a wellness center. Bus goes out on weekly excursions as well as grocery shopping. Hotel like rooms for visiting family (though only 2 so book in advance). Maintenance staff is very responsive and most of the staff are friendly and helpful. My parents moved in when it opened and have enjoyed it. Also informal atmosphere (don’t have to worry about dressing up for dinner). Units have full kitchens.
