My power was turned off when I wasn’t home because I was past due $101. The total amount owed was $299 and now they are hitting me with a $170 reconnect fee when they never notified me on my account or voicemail or email. They claimed they sent something in the mail. For them to turn my power off over $101 is completely outrages. I would have paid it immediately if I had known.

I tried to report a line down at my house and there was no way to reach a human being to report this. When I was supposed to speak to a representative the recording said to call back later due to high call volume. I tried for 2 days.

This is THE WORST electric company and all of my area agrees. I can't wait until these guys are shut down and we can have an affordable light company that will work with you. THEY SHUT MY POWER OFF AND DIDN'T EVEN CONSIDER WAITING A SINGLE DAY SO I COULD TRY TO PAY IT AND I HAVE A 5 YEAR OLD! Plus they came a week earlier than my disconnect notice said.

NHEC is very expensive. These frequent outages, of seconds or hours or days do not do out electronics much good. The road crews work hard I am sure but the management has an inadequate preventative maintenance policy. The ROWs need to be widened - land owners would agree, I’ll bet, if it meant fewer outages. I have pointed out trees not long to live near lines but NHEC will not deal with them before they come down. Crazy. Complain to your reps -
If you have internet access go to nhec website and look for the outages / outage map / tap on the red circle in Meredith and red the comments, it should tell you what is going on and it may have an estimated time of restoration.
They have a decent online outage reporting system. You can also choose to receive communication when power is restored. I haven't tried to contact them by phone too often, but when I did, I didn't personally have any trouble.
Storm crews Work 16 hour shifts until every members power is restored
