Such a wonderful resource for the citizens of Tampa. I love our local library! The parking garage is also right across from it so it's very accessible in the crazy downtown setup!

We came from out of town to complete some paperwork with our two small boys during the day. Initially there were no problems but after about an hour the problems began. Slowly people who worked at the library began complaint of where I was sitting, how I was sitting, not to sit on the floor, ( I had back surgery ans the chairs were upright and uncomfortable)to put my flip flop on while sitting, not to sit on the seat, not to move the children's seating items(which are large plush blocks) coming in pairs to complain about the noise of the children, sliding through the bookshelves wearing masks and gloves, watching us as if we weren't welcome, sending different people each time although the children were not a problem and the reading and writing by grown ups was being done silently. Director Andrew Breidenbaugh, sir, you need to retrain your staff members to leave patrons be to their business, public or private or whatever sort. You have a staff of bored busy bodies bullying visitors with pretend policies in an empty library andrheir actions werw teeter tottering on harassment which after the second bizzare confrontation did not surprise me. If you want visitors to feel welcome, retrain your staff to see if they could have a better visit, not Peculiar unnecessary enforcement of invisible rules to make people and their children uncomfortable. Naturally we are omitting the skin tone of the visitors.

I have enjoyed every visit I have made here. Their music and video sections are huge, their back magazine collection is huge, and they also have a surprising number of resources available online. Many of the snags involved with ebooks seem to have been resolved. The children's area is very family oriented. Overall, an excellent experience!! Thank you!

I'm a lifelong library user. I love libraries. I love librarians. I've visited a half dozen of the branches and always encountered nice and helpful staff. For about a year the Brandon branch was my home branch. While I always had excellent service and enjoyed the collections, today, was the deal killer for me. I got a notice, when checking out some materials that my account was on hold. When I went to the counter, the guy in the Seffner branch told me I had returned an item with a disc missing. Problem is, I checked out and returned that item more than a year ago. Digging deeper into the situation only garnered for me more bad answers, or no answers at all. I physically went to the Brandon branch to try to learn more and was basically assured that, I obviously made a mistake and it was no big deal. Which isn't true in any way. It's clear to me that something is weird in their system and I do not want to expose myself to potential losses or have my personal information compromised by a system that is so vulnerable.

Call the library and ask to speak to the manager. They made need to seek Library Board approval depending on their policies. Good luck

John Germany library has a whole floor for genealogy and also there is a genealogy library in the Tampa history center near Channelside.
There are 32 libraries that are a part of the Tampa - Hillsbourgh County public library system. Some of them have free parking but not the downtown libraries. All the libraries have on site parking or within walking distance.
Most of the libraries have computer classes.
