While losing a loved one is never easy, I cannot say enough good words about this hospice. The staff was so lovely to us as we said goodbye to our grandmother. They took such great care of her as well as us. The staff is so full of compassion and respect for people at their last moments. The location is beautiful, clean, and I could not have imagined a better place for her. Thank you Suncoast Hospice.

There was not a day during my husband‘s day that something did not go wrong. I was extremely disappointed with the doctor, the care level, and the attention to detail necessary for my husband‘s care. I brought him home a day earlier than planned due to my disappointment with the facility. I just received his death certificate and noticed that the cause of death was listed incorrectly on this official document. I have since learned that the information was provided the state from hospice. Once again, another disappointment and more insult to injury. Please note, this review is specific to the facility only, because hospice home care was wonderful.

There are some decisions that are tough to deal with, and deciding on hospice or nursing care is one of those. From the moment the Suncoast Hospice counselor met with us, our experience was beyond expectations. She walked us through the differences between hospice and nursing care, explaining everything in an easy to understand manner. She gave us time to consider our options. Answered all of our many questions. We made the decision with the best information we could have. Once we turned to Suncoast Hospice, they took over everything. We did not have to do much of anything other than sign consent forms. When the arraignments were made to transport my father from the hospital to hospice, the Suncoast people walked with us every step. The facility was totally beyond our expectations. The room was large, comfortable, and pleasing. There was a couch, an easy chair, large TV, and shelving to put pictures for my father to see. The staff was incredible. Their care and compassion was genuine, and very much needed. They treated my father as if he were their own. At the end, they comforted my mother and our family at our hardest hour. I can go on and on, but the short version is this is THE place you go to if you want your loved one to be cared for the best they can possibly be cared for when it's an end-of-life situation.

They REALLY CARE!!! I'm posting this information for those who have loved ones and are either scared what they will find and for those who cannot make it to see friends or family but want to know what it looks like. Each patient gets their own private room and bathroom. The rooms are large and have a sleeper sofa, reclining chair, folding chairs, cable TV, DVD player and a small refrigerator for special needs items. (Ex: my dad only drinks a certain protein drink. We were able to bring it and refrigerate it). Friends and family can come and go 24/7. The front doors close at 8pm, but ring the bell and you're in. They have lots of fresh cookies, coffee, hot tea, and other items for guests for free. Family and friends can spend the night, just ask for bedding. They can stay for as long as the patient likes. There are plenty of restaurants close by to eat at or bring meals back. All of the staff are amazing. I don't know how they handle working with so many people who are terminal. The nurses and CNAs are so cheerful, explain what they are going to do, make sure to introduce themselves, and go way beyond what you would get at a normal hospital. They allow dogs! If the patient has a dog, someone can bring it by for a visit. They even have dog treats. Just let the front desk know so they can note where they are. (I didn't see any cats so I don't know if they are allowed). The food and food options for patients is good. They have a nice variety and can ask for more. Ex: breakfast- eggs, French toast, sausage, cereal, fruits, etc Lunch & dinner- soup, salad, burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, fries, veggies and desserts. They don't want patients to go hungry. If they don't want to eat they can have protein shake. There are a few sitting areas, a chapel, screened patios, and a nice walking trail. So family and friends can have some alone time. They also have a kids room for small children to play in while others check on loved ones. (Play room is unsupervised) My brother wasn't able to make it here so I took lots of pictures for him to see the quality of this location and how amazing the staff is. If you, a friend or family member needs to come here, please do not be afraid. They will take care of the person with love and respect.

Questions & Answers

Is home care provided for residents of palm harbor. is there a limited time on home visits e.g. for example 4 hours a day for perhaps 3 days a week? Husband also suffers from Dementia among other physical problems and would need physical therapy.

Hospice is for those who have diagnosed with 6 months or less. Patients can live longer and still be on Hospice. As for what are requesting, that is more of an outside company to help with your loved one. There are many available search Google for local providers. If he is a veteran, call the VA. They can provide these types of services. Prayers for you and him. Its tough watching and caring for someone you love who is hurting.

Is Suncoast part of a larger group? Is the hospice a not for profit organization?
