This is a very nice campground and recreation area. Nice mature trees to help shade the area well. There are electric hookups and a dump out and water fill station there. The camp sites are spaced out nicely so you are not cramped in. They have a playground and sand volleyball court. They have paved paths attaching to roads so you can bike, run or walk around the lake. The lake is nice and shallow along the side opposite of the river. Makes it nice for kids to play in, kayak, paddle board and swim in. There is a sand beach for swimming on the side by the river. We didn't go to it, but it looked nice. There are small cabins you can rent that can sleep 5 and have a window A/C, electric outlets and a table and shelf inside. There is a nice deck attached that has a couple benches by the door that are covered and a large picnic table on the uncovered part. They have modern bathhouses that were seemed fairly well keep up. Definitely worth a stay at. You can go see the damn and spillway right by there.

We camp here almost every year. It's a great place to camp with kids.

Beautiful campground! Sites are very large and mostly level. Mature cottonwood trees that provide for a lot of shade and many are perfect for hanging a hammock.

Awesome campground, very spacious sites definitely not crowded. Lots of shade and good fishing areas.

$55 a night. https://gfp.sd.gov/parks/detail/chief-white-crane-recreation-area/
If the site was empty the nite before it could be as early as noon. Call or stop Stop at the office and ask
They have heated cabins at far West end of Lewis & Clark on big lake by west boat marina. They are heated but you'll have to use outhouse. Modern toilets are closed. So no showers either. I usually call for reservations. Not gonna be much at lake. Just stuff in town, restaurant, bowling, ice skating. Chief white crane will be closed
Yes. The park closes 11/15. Reservations 90 days in advance. If you fill your tag and you cancel you get a refund if you stay at least 1 night
Only electric motors are allowed on lake yankton..it's a great place for canoes and kayaks.but Lewis and Clark lake is only 2-3 miles away
There is a 14 nite limit on all reservations. The 15th nite must be spent out of the park then another reservation for 14 nites can be made. That is the policy in all south Dakota state parks. The cost is 22.27 a nite and a SD state park license is required to enter the park. Licenses are $6 a nite or $30 for the annual or 2 for $45.
