Probably 4.5 stars, I just can't rate it as high as Rivers Bend in Rock Valley. Sandy Hollow was a Sand pit turned golf course in the seventies, fast forward thirty years and the city of Sioux Center wanted a nicer golf course and housing development so they pawned it off on the Sioux County conservation department. Who had a desire to make it more natural. Well that has been a struggle, but they made the ponds larger and they got rid of excess trees and it is so much better than it was a couple years ago. Most of the sites are gravel and the drive is gravel, but it features nature walks and a nice beach and two ponds to swim, kayak or canoe, and fish in. The bathroom is adequately clean most days(honestly I haven't been to a campground outside of this area that I can even stand the bathrooms at, so when I say adequate that's good).

You can boat on the ponds, however water is lower than usual making it more difficult to put boats in. Also, only trolling motors are allowed. Hope this helps.
There's only four or five full hookup sites and they close October 15th.
