We got packed out for a PCS on December 22. We have been in Ohio since December 28. Every week we are given a new date. We are tracking our things and they have not left California. As our things keep getting delayed, nobody seems to have a valid reason. At some point “Covid” is no longer a logical reason. Why were we told our things were picked up on Jan 21 for the long haul? This is ridiculous. These companies do not care about military families.

Extremely unhappy with Suddath's handling of my military move across the country. To start, our items were packed and loaded onto a vehicle by a local moving company, and after being stored in a warehouse, they were not retrieved from that warehouse until 14 days later. Mind you, I have colleagues that moved across the country from NC to CA that had overall shorter moves than this. Next, we continue to be told "expected dates" that continue to get pushed back day after day. Verbatim, we are told "your goods should arrive on date X and should be delivered to your home on date Y, " only to find out a few days later that there was no truth to these estimates. Too many times have we gotten our hopes up that we would finally stop sleeping in an air mattress and finally get our bed and couch back. I will stop holding my breath at this point. This has been a never ending saga that has caused extreme inconvenience for me and my family. I have lost all confidence and I wouldn't be surprised if 3 weeks from now they told me all our items are missing. Very unprofessional business. Avoid this company if you can. If DPS assigned them to handle your move, request an alternate company.

Moving is stressful and hectic, but I was pleased overall with United Van Lines/Suddath. My move was not perfect, but Joaquin Guzman was at coordinating the move. He was there to address everything that required follow up and took on responsibilities that technically belonged to others on his team. He is extremely customer-oriented and a problem solver, which is what I needed for my cross-country move.

Im not one to write reviews but this was the best move in the history of moving. Ive never had a good experience with movers, until now. Tom was my coordinator and he went above and beyond to provide my family with exactly what we needed to make this cross country move happen. He was honest, had competitive pricing and checked in regularly. We were the last on the truck and the first off and they got here in record time. Eddie was our driver and oversaw both loading and unloading teams. He was professional, kind and super efficient. Nothing was damaged. That was a first. Very grateful I used Suddath after getting moving bids for 5 different companies. Super happy. Thank you Tom, Mandi and Eddie!

Careful pre-planning will minimize or avoid relocation problems, especially when it comes to traveling with pets. United has a booklet offering suggestions on this topic, including a checklist of things to do and a special section on horses and ponies. For a copy of "Moving with Pets," contact a us or visit United Van Line’s website.

How do you pack dishes?

When packing for a move, United Van Lines recommends using a dish pack — an exceptionally sturdy corrugated carton of double-wall construction — for china, glassware and other fragile items less than 18 inches in size. Unless cartons of similar strength and construction are available, you might want to purchase several dish packs from us.

Suddath offers two options for you to choose what's the best option is for you and your move. We offer a minimum coverage at no cost, which provides you .60 per lb per article. It is the most economical option available, but it only provides minimal protection. In addition, Suddath offers full value protection if you would like to replace or have the item repaired to the condition that we received it in, if something were to be damaged. The cost for that is $6.00 per 10,000 lbs. For example, if you have a 10,000 lb shipment, you'll have $60,000 in coverage.

What are my different options for an estimate? How can you simplify the process for me?

With Suddath, you have the option of either an in-home survey, or you can schedule a virtual survey which can be done from your phone or tablet. From there, you have two options. We can provide a binding estimate, or a binding cost of moving services that will be specified in advance, which will give you the full cost of the move barring any major changes. We also have a non-binding estimate. A non-binding estimate is used when you are unsure of what you’re moving. Non-binding leaves options open, but there could be additional charges, if for example, the weight of your moved items is higher than you originally anticipated.

What do you do to ensure my items and property are safe and secure during the moving process?

After we arrive and meet you, Suddath’s standard operating procedure during a move is to focus first on prepping your home to protect it and your items from damage. Our team will lay extensive floor protection – for example, cardboard, carpet shield or a neoprene-type rug runner. We will wrap banisters, and cover door jams to make sure doors aren’t chipped. We then wrap all furniture inside of your house before strategically loading it onto the truck, and do the same when we're at destination making delivery. Everything comes off the truck padded, is unwrapped and placed in your desired location, minimizing the possibility of damages.
