Took a shuttle boat from Big Arm rentals. We did the 9 am to 12:30. The boat ride was nice. Hiked 5 miles around the island and saw herds of goats, big horn sheep and deer! Didn't see the horses, but a fun and beautiful trip just the same.

Boat ride was great hike is nice. Kinda a party island now needs more regulations but still gorgeous. Not a ton of bugs. Or shade...lol. horses and sheep are not tough to find.

There are private properties on Wild Horse Island, check VRBO
There are so many you would need a book to identify them all! The large yellow flowers that cover pretty much the entire island are called Arrow Leaf Balsam Root. It is absolutely stunning to see it all blooming in the spring time.
There are small boat companies you can purchase the roundtrip fare. They take you, drop you off, set a pick up time. Walk the trail, take water and snacks. Great place.
