We did the Cataract Falls trail. It was great. Though some websites says it's a 2.8 miles hike it ended up 7miles for us. Going down to the falls was of course easy because of all the stairs. But climbing up was a bit hard for us as there were a lot of stairs. Falls were a bit timid still the view was good.

Parking will be hard if you park by the dam/lake..take a drive a bit further for trails at the top. But if you do get the chance or space to park after the dam. You’ll find some portable outhouses near the lake/fall trails. To bad when we went it was a bit dry, small cataract falls but the hikes were great!!! Expect stairs and you’ll get a good feel of nature breeze, at least when I went. πŸ‘Œ best to come visit these falls a little after a rain, I’d advise to check on the forecast.

We only did hike till Picnic area. Even that was moderate intense for a beginner like me. The best part about the hike was the tiny waterfalls all along the way. Hike is perfect for hot summer days!

Great moderately intense hike! Lots of downhill, then lots of uphill! We went around 9am and there was ample parking. When we returned at Noon, the lot was full. We parked at RockSpring Trail Head. There’s also porta-potty there! BYOW. Lots of little waterfalls. Lots of foot-traffic. Lots of cute puppies.

Questions & Answers

Can we picnic at Cataract Falls?

Yes you can sit down around the falls and eat. There's also a parking closer to the falls (the other side of the main parking) maybe 15min walking to the falls. Otherwise it's about 1h30 to the falls and yeah you can just eat sitting down on the floor next to the fall or the alpine lake :)

Less than a mile from the trail head. With all the rain lately, it should be plenty of water
