Extremely affordable lunch fare and decent Italisn food at that. Quick friendly service in an environment that feels older than the rest of Charlotte in a good way. Tea was fresh, pasta was good enough that I finished it despite not being that hungry, the bread was also quite good. Spring for the Parmigiana upgrade if you like cheese as much as I do.

Wonderful food and friendly service. Our waitress has worked here for 30+ years. She helped us decide between several interesting sounding menu choices. All of our choices were delicious. We had our dessert first. Tiramisu. So good. We will return when 1st able.

Let me state that nobody should ever prepare and serve brains, lungs, hearts, or LIVER. I don't care what memories of the great depression it brings back; it's gross, both in taste and texture. Certainly, above all else should not be a "signature dish"....and anywhere and to everyone else parmigiana would imply the product is fried. Not a bland white meat chicken breast. Your chef's special SHOULDN'T be the most unsavory dish on the menu; shouldn't be served at all. That being said, a most unpleasant first experience, I came back for a half dozen other dishes so far. All well seasoned and properly cooked, that I would recommend. The lunch specials are reasonably priced portions, and Open Kitchen is my go to for tasty Italian fare in the Charlotte area. I have not dined in, but appreciate the noire of the establishment and the friendliness of the staff.

Great dinner location. Our server was fantastic, iced tea and soda glasses were never close to empty. Pizza came out sooner than expected and it was very good. We also shared a salad, which was very fresh. I would definitely visit again.
