Sketches for you

This used to be Del Davis Tree Farm. The boy liked rock 'n' roll, seemed that's the way he paid his way.

I've lived close enough to hear the Graton fire siren most of my life and am grateful to the department every time I hear it. When I wasn't living on Guerneville Road, I was living in Coffey Park. We would have had more time to get out and maybe saved a few things had we had we had such a siren there. Maybe no one would have lost their lives. I'm back on Guerneville Road now and love to hear that siren because I know that someone in need is getting help. (I also tell time by the noon whistle.) Thank you Graton Volunteer Fire Department.

Questions & Answers

Your suggestions on wildfire prevention seem inadequate in these dire draught times. Do you inspect Graton properties for violations? & instructing to water regularly? In a draught? I think we need more support & oversight from GFD

Hi Karen. We agree. Since we know have full time firefighters, that is one of our goals to build out that section of our website. We are also doing defensible space checks. The County has inspectors who will inspect properties reported for not following county standards. The County has the authority to do the work and charge it back to the property if not completed by the homeowners. If anyone would like to request a defensible space check and get recommendations, they can call our fire station and schedule it with Engineer Dusty Parker. Dusty used to work with CALFIRE and has performed hundreds of checks… he is a great resource for us. 823-8400 Bill Bullard Fire Chief

What is that obnoxious helicopter noise I'm hearing at 6 am?

Sorry, not related to any fires or medical calls in Graton. Could have been the Sheriff helicopter chasing someone; that would be my best guess. The vineyards and orchards sometimes spray in the early mornings - not sure how close you are to one.
