My Mom first became involved with the Villa about eleven years ago when she helped her older sister Leona move from her home to the Villa. Aunt Lee remained there until her death, a resident of the Villa for about four years. In all that time my Mom was always making comments about how nice the staff was, how clean they keep the facility and how they keep Aunt Lee busy with different activities. Mom also mentioned on several occasions that if and when the time came, she wanted to be in the Villa. Some years after Aunt Lee’s death, it became apparent to the family and the primary doctor that Mom was no longer able to live at home alone. Being my Mom's appointed P.O.A., making the decision to move her from her home was very, very difficult and emotional. Upon Mom's insistence (and a quick visit by my wife Heidi and myself to see what the Villa was like), we made arraignments and moved Mom into the Villa. That was almost two years ago. Heidi, I and the family can honestly say, (and we tell everybody), that moving Mom into the Villa was the best move for Mom and that the Villa is second to none when it comes to an assisted care facility. Janel and her entire staff go way beyond in everything they do for Mom. The staff gets alone so well with each other, they are all so nice. We always see the same ones; no new faces so that means no turn overs as far as we can tell, and they all are so loving and so involved with the residents. Everyone agrees that Mom looks better now than when she first moved into the Villa. In short, if and when the time comes for your family to find assisted care for a loved one, you need to look no farther than The Villa in Johnstown.
