Mags Journey

Let me start by saying that this is a beautiful place with a nice lake and some fun activities for the kids in the water during the summer. The shower houses are typically clean and Summer, the lady working check in, was very friendly and very helpful. However their charges are ridiculous and the owner is typically very rude.. My husband and I picked out a spot for a weekend rustic camping trip. They tell you one price and let you pick out a spot. But then charge an extra $15 to guarantee that spot. You're not allowed to bring wood in from even across the street and have to buy their wood. It's $5. We ended up having to buy 7 packs of it while we were there. It burns out super quick and it's a very small amount of wood. In addition to the fact you have to wait for it to be delivered so waiting an hour to make breakfast after you get up is kind of ridiculous. The teenage boys they have driving the golf carts do not adhere to the 5 mile an hour rule and like to tow their friends on their bicycles through the park. We cleaned our spot and checked out about a 1/2 an hour before check out time. We had family staying there and let them know that we would be visiting with them for an hour or so before we left. We would we were told we would have to pay a visitor's fee if we stayed for more than one hour. Even though we had already paid for the entire weekend. They literally charge for every little tiny thing to the point that it was "should we run burn firewood to stay warm or pay an additional $5 and not be able to make breakfast in the morning until more was delivered." On Sunday morning we literally had to flag one of the teenage boys down and asked for our wood again because it had been over an hour and they were busy towing their friends on bikes using the golf carts. We will not be back and would not recommend staying here especially if it is gonna be cold or you require wood for cooking.

I understand perfectly the need for rules, but this place is like a military camp. Staff not helpful to a elderly lady who stopped to see if a site was available for the night. Staff told her no site available, she asked for the names of any campgrounds that she could check with, staff said they could not speak to any other campgrounds. I don't understand why they could not give the names for other campgrounds she could check with. Way to noisy with semi traffic from the freeway. Over priced for what it is. It's like urban camping and that's not my thing, so maybe that's part of why I didn't enjoy my weekend.

Expensive! Lots of big potholes all over the place. The owners will fine you if you drive over the speed limit or cut through an empty site as a shortcut. Beware this RV park is located right next to the highway less than 100 feet away and the noise will probably keep you from sleeping at night. I wasn't able to get a good night sleep. The rest of the park is pretty nice. They have a big lake and fun activities for kids.

Nice for a one night stay due to easy off and easy on interstate, but that means there's a lot of interstate noise. The price per night is also a little high to me, especially during non peak season. Looks they have a lot of activities during the summer. Staff was friendly.

There is WiFi, but no tv hook ups at the camper sites. I do not remember fishing poles being for rent, but I did see people fishing from rented paddle boats.
