What an experience this was! On our way home from Monticello Indiana we stopped to see the Bison. We got lucky one was right up front and center as we drove in and he was beautiful! So glad that we stopped very clean doing area very nice.

Saw signs on the side of the highway and stumbled upon this delightfully unexpected little joy in the middle of Indiana. There are clear signs guiding you off the highway to the viewing area. We could barely see the bison from the designated area, but got back in our car and drove down the road (despite the signs saying not to do that, whatever) and then were RIGHT THERE! So cool, definitely worth the stop if you’re driving past.

A fun little gem in the middle of nowhere! Nice place to visit to rest your legs a bit and learn about what they are doing at the Kankakee Sands and what the Bison are doing for the ecosystem. The bison were too far out to really get photos, but I will visit again!

There are now 50+ with last Spring's births
Sometimes they are laying in the tall grass and hard to see.
Not sure of how many but i figure it looked like about 40 or so in a distance only seen 2 real close when we went
Willow Slough is close and has camping for $12 a night.
