Old archaic system after returning from Heathrow. Automate it to speed it up. Infrastructure lacking like most of the USA.

Customs received package of LED lights on April 1st, it is now April 11th and in 10 days they haven't managed to process my package. I don't understand what's so hard about clearing packages, the process is only as fast as the employees which I guess says something. Real happy my taxes pay for that kind of service, speaks volumes about the US government.

Came here to get a release for my sea shipment and everything went smoothly. The staff was friendly, and helpful. Just make sure you know exactly what you need to do, and what paperwork you need to present. They also need printed copies of things, so make sure you have them just in case. We had to go to FedEx office (6 min walk) to print 1 thing. It was fine but it could have been totally avoided. Other than that, officers are cool. Building is easy to find! 8th floor!

Very horrible customer service. Nothing but Attitude and Sarcasm coming from the gentleman working behind the glass. Any question you ask, you're met with them questioning your intelligence. Which i find a bit odd when they can't even do their job correctly. We were sitting at the office for hours waiting for one of them to give us an answer about our cargo and finally we went up and they said "oh it's been cleared , i don't know what you're still doing here" seems like they think people love to just sit around in their presence and waste time. Good luck to anyone who has to deal with this office.

Advise to you is to take care of the interview the next time you come into the country. After you check in , asked where the Global office is. They will take care of it in 3 minutes.
If you imported your car and are trying to register it in California, you'll probably have to it to the border to have Customs inspect it there. You might have to call Otay Mesa port in San Diego where they inspect trucks in order to find out how to get your car properly inspected.
CBP has been continuously hiring for a while. You can apply for LAX sometimes as they often have openings.

You don't need an appointment. Is on a first come first serve basis. As soon as you arrive to the c.b.p office get a ticket and they will call your number. Waiting time is minimum. If you're looking for global entry, I must tell you they are closed.
Applications for changes in status or adjustments must be made with USCIS. Any determination made by USCIS is sustained by all other interested agencies. The public portion of the office on La Cienega is mainly for import and export issues.
