Even having very little experience with horses, I enjoyed my first horse ride in open space. Instructions from our guide were clear, horses - calm, probably because of their age. Must-take experience for beginners. Also, views are stunning.

My husband and I showed up last minute (about 10 minutes) before the noon ride without a reservation. They were super amicable and were able to accommodate us. Our guide, Donna, was laid back, funny, and told us some cool facts about the area. The horses are gentle and great for beginners. As advertised, we were on the trail for the full hour on a dusty loop through the preserve. There’s no shade so bring your sunscreen. After our ride Donna offered us cold water and said we could check out the other animals (goats, pigs, poultry). Thanks for fun, easy, mini adventure on our Ojai day trip! We’d love to visit you again!

Susan and staff were friendly enough, but our overall experience was quite disappointing. The trail guide was tepid (at best), and did nothing to facilitate our son’s first ride (minimal communication and instruction). The trail itself was awful—flat, dusty, and very near the heavily traveled state road. The company presents $75 for an hour ride, but delivers maybe 45 minutes, and offers no proration for younger or older riders. No water was offered at any point, even though Susan knew that we were short on supply after having come (impromptu) from a hike. Susan wasn’t available to discuss after the ride, and wasn’t open to hearing any concerns later over the phone. You might have a better experience than we did, but I wouldn’t bet $75 per hour on it.

An absolute pleasure to go to! I went with my 3year old, and 1year old girls, and they did a pony ride for my oldest for only $40, and also gave her a horseshoe to decorate (which we later gave to my wife as a present). What I love most of all though is all of the animals about; peacocks, donkey, chickens, ducks, pigs, goats, cows, etc make it an extremely entertaining place for so much more than riding horses or learning to ride horses. I asked them and I guess 130 horses are there in total, with over half of those being boarded. The location is right next to the wash, so within a minute you are in the middle of beautiful nature.
