McMenamins Mall 205

We often frequent McMenamins Pubs. The service was great. We got to sit in the sun after a hike in the gorge. The gyros and beer were as expected and hit the spot. BUT what happened to the tater tots? They tasted like potato chips in the shape of a tot. Not worth it! Bummer because the tots are part of the reason we stop here.

As far as McMenamins goes, it's always great food and drink regardless the location. My unique observation of the Mall 205 location is what they lack in atmosphere (it is in a strip mall setting as opposed to one of their more hallmark locations such as the Vancouver waterfront location with an up-close view of the beautiful Columbia river or the Kennedy school location with its unique, historic atmosphere), they make up for in service. I was there on a lunch break of an all-day business meeting and our waitress, although busy, was very accommodating and attentive to our specialty requests. Delicious food and no complaints!

Went there for an early lunch since we had been on the go since very early in the morning - with no breakfast. We were seated very quickly, drinks also followed quickly, especially since we were told things would be a bit slow, since there was an unexpected staffing problem, which was in the process of remediation. The food came unexpectedly quickly, and the staff even split our order for us (which we had only mentioned to our server). The gardenburger, side salads, and fries were all very well prepared (not a McMenamins problem, but some restaurants find it difficult to properly prepare vegetarian or vegan dishes - an issue that is not present here). It's too bad we waited so long to visit this venue again. Last time we were here there was a Newport Bay next door, so it's been a while, but we will most assuredly be returning. Shout out to our server for grace under pressure while they restaffed - she kept everything flowing smoothly and was very pleasant, never lost her cool.

I believe that all their locations are gas!! 🔥 This spot in particular has some really really good burgers. The drinks however, were not that good unfortunately. I'd probably pay 5$ for them though lol 😆
