This small place downtown is affordable and great! I would totally recommend the fried rice and aioli fries. I am definitely going back. Great service as well.

Husband and I dined here for the first time on a Saturday night after making a 5pm reservation a month in advance. We were greeted by attentive and helpful staff, and our waitress (red hair) was able to walk us through the details of the menu and specials. We ordered calamari and chips and salsa to start and were given fresh complimentary bread and roasted-garlic olive oil. All the food came out on mismatched plate ware with some pieces even having chips in the porcelain. I understand the eclectic look they may be going for, but it ended up looking old and careless. Unfortunately, the bread was dough-y in the middle and bland. The calamari was lightly breaded and fried, but also bland in flavor. The chips appeared to be house made but fried either too long or in old oil as they came out very dark, very oily, and very bland as well. The salsa was fresh and tasted vibrant. We ended up asking for salt and were brought a salt shaker filled with flakey salt. It hardly escaped the holes of the shaker, causing us to look ridiculous as we vigorously shook the shaker, begging for salt to grace our food. We soon became uninterested in continuing with the appetizers as the work it took to get a flavorful bite outweighed the reward. For our mains, we ordered a small plate of meatloaf over truffle mashed potatoes with morel mushrooms and a large plate of black sea bass and escargot served over a bed of purple rice and 4 asparagus stalks dressed with a butter sauce. Sounds amazing right? It could have been. But again, salt was severely missing. At this point, it sounds like we have a sodium deficiency with our salt complaints. But the reality is that salt helps to elevate the flavor of the ingredients, and that’s why it was a shame to make such spectacular ingredients taste one-note. The butter sauce on the sea bass dish in particular came out oily rather than rich. Our bill came out to about $75 including tip, which was fine because we came with the goal of tasting a ton of dishes using expensive ingredients. But paying $75 to have to salt my own food is just disgraceful and disappointing. Will not be returning unfortunately…

Food was delicious, but cold. I would have given it five stars had the food been the proper temperature.

What a gem of a place. The friendly service by Olivia was great, and the food was a pure suprise of different tastes that's had my taste buds dancing. Dish specializes in small plates, with locally sourced ingredients. I love when I am told where the food is coming from. That adds to the food that I am enjoying. It puts a connection from the farm, to the chef to, my mouth. I will do my best to drop into dish next time I am in Lynchburg. I would advise anyone to stop in. It will be worth your time and money.

We were disappointed to say the least. They were about to seat us at tables that had been placed up against the bar that had people between them, standing and drinking at the bar. It was horrible. Needless to say, we left as we did not feel safe. The other tables were well spaced, so go with a group of 4 or more and that way you will be seated at one of them.
