As a Nurse calling Dr.Kanen about one of her patients, I was completely flabbergasted at how little concern, and respect she showed toward her patient. She denied setting a telehealth visit and refused to allow me to state what information we needed on the patient. All she kept saying was the patient missed her appointment several times. The nursing staff and I are completely shocked that this lady is even still in practice. This is a very sad situation. If I could give zero stars I would.

After five years of primary care and other services I continue to appteciate the quality of care I have received. Both Dr. Kanen and Ann Strain are caring and thorough practitioners. The office staff is helpful and the new office is clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this office.

Dr. Kanen is absolutely horrible. My first clue was how dirty the office is. I don't think the rug has ever been cleaned, ever. The office staff, though very nice in person, never ever return phone calls. So they don't answer the phone, they ask that you leave a message and then never return the calls no matter how many times you call or how important the calls are. But Dr. Kanen is something else! I've yet to meet her, but her PA's injected a drug into my elderly friend that is suppose to be injected every 6 months. They did it after 2 months! I contacted Dr. Kanen via Sutter Health email and explained my concern for potential harm in giving her too much of this injection. She answered with she would check with her staff and I've not heard back from her and that was almost 2 months ago. I have sent her 2 emails since and Sutter Health has sent her a message to answer my question. Still no response. My elderly friend also had an infected toe. The assisted living facility where she lives faxed Dr. Kanen regarding the issue. I called to make an appointment and got the answering machine and of course no call back. I ended up taking my friend to an Urgent Care center where she was diagnosed with a very serious infection. Maybe this Dr. is good with addicts but as an internal medicine doctor I would stay clear from that office. Such a joke!

I have been taking my mother here for about 6 years. She was seen by Dr. Anne who is actually great, and who unfortunately was not available for my mother's recent office visit. Instead, she was seen by Dr. Kanen - what a horror story that Dr is. Dr. Kanen is rude, short, brusk, lacks compassion and empathy and her check up on my mother wasn't thorough at all, in fact she seemed in a rush, and needless to say made my 71yo mother feel very uncomfortable. Her staff, that up to this point had been just OK, nothing to praise or criticize, was nothing but unprofessional this last time. I had to reschedule and then cancel an appointment due to jury duty and third appointment was mis-scheduled by them. All of a sudden I receive a call by Shatia, I believe her name is, from the doctor's office telling me that I don't respect their time and that they may release my mother as a patient (after 6 years of never missing an appointment ?!). As if what she was saying wasn't bad enough, it was the way she was talking to me, what took it over the top, her tone and the fact that she even raised her voice at me over was completely uncalled for. How unprofessional is that? I don't really know what is going on at that office, I heard doctors have left and Dr Kanen is now working triple (according to Shatia) but I suspect Dr. Kanen is stressed (and it shows), and she's putting pressure on her staff who then take it out on the patients. One thing is for sure, I'm not putting my mother thru that again. Just terrible. Sorry Dr. Anne... we'll miss you!
