Went for a Sunday drive and picked up food for the first part of the week. Hand sliced Lox, very good. Cinnamon Bobka, sliced cold cuts and much more.

The chopped liver was excellent. The Babka was excellent. However, for near $30 a pound, you sold me rotted Pastrami!! I opened the package the following day and nearly puked from the smell. Since it should always be about the food, I ignore the shabby interior, lousy display and high prices and tried three items you CAN NOT mess up. Am done. Too bad since the liver was so good.

What happened? We have been eating at or getting take out from LSD since it opened. The food was always wonderful and one of the best delis. When it changed hands a few years ago we saw some decline in service and food. But it was still good and customer service was at least ok. However our recent visit - today, was a new low. When I ordered on the phone, it seemed I was taking the woman on the phone away from something more important. She never asked how I wanted things (hot or cold) - They were cold. The sandwiches were not put together correctly and the pickup was an exercise in "who's on first". No one had the order or knew where it was. And that was only when someone finally decided that maybe helping a customer is what they should be doing. How disappointing to have this happen. We just lost Legends and Shanahan's. The choices for takeout in this area are seriously lacking. Good thing we have The Pickled Herring on Route 9 - but it's far.

The corned beef and pastrami was great! The knishes wonderful, really liked the brisket knish. I haven't been here in a few years and will need to make sure I come here more often. Super nice staff, even offered to help take my bags to the car.

They are open on Shabbos. However, the uncured meats are sourced from glatt producing facilities. Cured meats are generally Hebrew National. That is under the Triangle K. You should always consult your own Halakhic authority about the reliability of supervision agencies. The cooking vessels are all shel heter. It is not like eating in a non-kosher environment. If you need to eat here and observe the glatt stringency, there are a large number of parve (i.e. vegetarian) options on the menu. All vegetables are thoroughly washed but not minutely checked.
2 roasted chickens, a quart of chicken noodle soup kugel, potatoe or noodle. You can also add a challah
