A great place for veterans to gather!

Met some nice people there, but was disappointed to find out that even though I am a Life Member have been vetted to receive that and a VFW License Plate from the state I moved from, was vetted for it, have a retiree ID card..I was asked again for a DD214 to transfer to this post. Was told a story that people were "getting" VFW Id's for their friends so he had to make sure I wasn't a POSER! This would have been fine had I not talked to a local that has been a member there for 25 plus years and was told that 75% of the people in this place that night and most nights have ever served in the military. She told me that most of the people were there for the cheap beer. The bartender was nice and provided good service. She was nice enough to "sign" in my wife since I wasn't allowed too. I spoke with one of the officers of the club, sounds like they do a lot of things for the veterans and community. Unfortunately I probably won't return here based on what I saw and was told. It did not have the "feel" of a VFW. It was certainly more like a bar with cheap beer.
