Map needs more info like mile makers. Very little shade. Definitely more for hunters than hikers. May try this winter, may see some wild life/ birds.

I learned today that Hilochee Osprey Unit is only accessible by bike or walking in non-hunting season. During hunting season, the only vehicle traffic allowed are hunters. The roads are well maintained and hard packed. You can drive any car...if you can access with a car. If you have limited mobility, you are out of luck.

Questions & Answers

Is hunting permitted?

Only during permitted hunting seasons. Go to fwc to find the wma brochure to see listed hunting dates and requirements. Most seasons require a quota permit that you would need to apply for and be selected to receive. Application dates are also listed. It is too late to apply for this season. Apply and hope for next season.

They open the gates during hunting seasons listed in the WMA's brochure on the FWC site. They have specific regulations on vehicle access and which areas are off limits to vehicles.
