Not sure if this is in fact a "new policy " but I went to return an unopened... factory sealed... Brother Sewing machine (purchased just 2 days prior online/ in-store pick up) and the girl goes. . "New company policy is we have to charge a restocking fee..." I looked at her a bit in disbelief... but its still sealed.... ready to go... why? She just continued to say company policy and that it was on the receipt also saying"at least you didnt open it... if you did. We couldn'taccept it at all" .. As mentioned. I purchased online and saw no such disclosure. I know it's "only 20%" but that 20% is my hard earned money and for no reason should I have to give it to them for a perfectly intact factory sealed item... Furthermore, upon picking up the item ... I asked the cashier (different associate from when I went to return) should I decide I don't want the machine, can I return for a full refund? "Ohhh yes! Just make sure you keep your receipt.. and if you do open it keep all the packaging " ... So, BIG miscommunication between company policies and apparently the associates ... one tells me yeaaa it's all good to go no worry returns.. then upon returning I'm told a different story. So! I kept my machine... I may use it... OR ... may sell online just out of principle to NOT give JoAnn's another dime. Not to mention, what stores are left and haven't closed are somewhat a disaster. It's always a mess despite the associates best efforts (I assume.... they always look like they are miserable and overworked ) I've been on the fence with this company for a while now and think that was the nail in the coffin for me. Can you find good deals there once in a blue moon? Absolutely.... but just make sure you check the fine print before buying AND as long as you are ok dealing with wet blankets for any time of CS .. go for it.
