We did the summit hike and then went to the falls via Falls Trail. Tips for doing that: PARK AT LOT 4! We came here wanting to do the summit hike and then go to the waterfall after, walking all the way back to lot 1 was exhausting. If you’re ok with a steep side trail (down and back) to the waterfall then parking at lot 4 saves you a steep trudge back to lot 1. After you park, follow the switchbacks up staying left at both forks. When you get to the top - the TOP TOP it’s so clear when you’re at the top you won’t ask “are we at the top” - you can walk down a little to the left a to what looks like a view BUT ISNT! Turn right at the cairn (rock pile) to find the foot trail, then left at the fork in the footpath to the beautiful view!! Lovely! Have lunch here! When you want to go to the waterfall, walk back to the lot then turn right until you get to a new stop sign barrier on the left. That’s the Falls Trail. If you take it it’s a SHORT maybe 10 minute walk to the waterfall top. To get to the base there’s a sketchy ish steep foot trail (go the long way if you keep your hikes light and breezy). We went in august (it rained hard for 20 minutes during the hike) and the small pond at the base of the falls was perfect for a swim! We wore our swimsuits under hiking clothes. Absolutely perfect hike, can’t wait to come again one day! Highly recommend!!

Wild Forest is a great description of this area. We only briefly got the chance to explore but what we did see was wonderful. The campsites were also excellent and unique. There was some gross litter at some of the sites including poo buckets, which is weird to find at more than one site, butt aside from that this area was awesome.

Easy to find trail, we used Google maps and found it right away, beautiful sights and nice little pools to swim in! It was a great hike! Though you wanna get there early because it gets crowded fast, we ended up taking some out of the way trails and ended up finding some cool gems in the river! 😍🙌 overall great experience!

What is the closest campground to the shelving rock waterfall (to stay over night in a tent) thanks in advance
There are designated camping sites
Sure can, that's called log Bay
No motorized vehicles on trails, only licensed vehicles on the road. Lake George Park Commission and EnCon have jurisdiction.
3-5 hours. Awesome place to spend the day, have a picnic, swim, float...
