What a gem! Not your made-by-grandmother quilts. I have far more fun here than at the SJ Museum of Art. Very few visitors on a weekday. Easy street parking right outside. See the nextdoor Institute of Contemporary Art too. Both are superb for their size.

The quilts here are not your grandmother's quilts. These are really pieces of art and amazing in their complexity. Well worth the admission charge!

Small museum but very well kept with interesting textile art. Gift shop is small and cute and it comes with a nice sturdy hand made bag made by volunteers when you buy something. My whole family enjoyed it a lot.

Whenever I am in CA I made a trip down to San Jose specifically to see the quilt museum. I don't quilt, but I do collect fabric art and own quilts from the 1880s to now. Each show is worthwhile. I admire the creativity of the various artists and what they make. Not all are quilts. They normally display some of the historic quilts along with the contemporary fabric art. It's a small museum, so go down the block to the other galleries. Then see the San Jose Art museum and enjoy the restaurants in the area too. Christmas in downtown SJ is an annual event.

Questions & Answers

Why are you only open from 11-3 on Saturday? I am a member who came up from Aromas and found you closed at 2:57! Shocking, very disappointing. Why?

Are you kidding??!! Their hours of operation do not revolve YOUR schedule. Try checking the website next time!

I have a beautiful and highly original early 20th century quilt that comes originally from a ranch near Chico. I am looking for a collection to donate it to. Any thoughts on who might be interested?
