Bennie's Italian foods in Marion is a quaint and wonderful sit down type of restaurant close to the downtown square. I recently had a death in the family, and it was decided upon that Bennie's would be the place to have a meal after the funeral service. I contacted the manager and met with him in person right at the time they were opening. I apologized for the very short notice in which I gave the restaurant manager but had asked if they could handle a group of around 30 people on short notice. While I was speaking with him, the head chef came out and guaranteed me that not only could he handle it but it would even be best for all in the group to order individually from the menu. A few hours later my group arrived at Bennie's, and got sit down in the banquet room which they have upstairs. They had two waitresses handle our orders and drink selections. The service was outstanding! Exceeded my expectations as we had gave such short notice. Each meal was top-flight and worthy of a big city restaurant type of service. Bennie's made a lot of fans that day with the wonderful food and excellent service. I definitely will be a return customer myself and urge others to give it a try!

Bennie's is a great place for informal, Italian dining. There are not many restaurants in the area that serve Italian food. The cannelloni and lasagna are very good. There is plenty on the menu for those who aren't interested in Italian food, too. We enjoy the pieces of bread served with spiced olive oil when dining after 5:00 pm. The murals on the walls add a little flavor to the restaurant. I've never failed to find Bennie's clean and the service good. If there is an event at the Marion Civic Center, you may experience a wait before being seated. It is a very popular place to dine for those events as they are a short walk from one another.

Wow, I came out of Adam's shoes. The smell of Italian food was so good. Not from the area. But, I had to go in. Everyone was very pleasant. Only had the sandwich. Was so good. Highly recommend for lunch.

Week number 5: In Search of The Big Muddy Monster Our adventure today has taken us to Bennie's Italian Restaurant. We heard a rumor that the beast was smitten by the smell of the food here. As we approached we saw a glimpse into what I thought was the beast but I did not have my camera at the ready so no pictures. I have now learned my lesson and will have my camera at ready if I catch a glimpse at this magnificent and rare creature. So we ventured inside of the restaurant to see what tempted the beast. As soon as you enter the doors, the smell of their secret food hits you. I ordered the Cheesey Bread at first.. It tasted excellent and the wait was not too long. The second entree' came out at just the right time. We had ordered Baked Mostaccioli and it was topped full of cheese and tasted wonderful as well. The waitress was very kind and right on her game. The booths were set apart to give more room (not so stuffy). Weĺl, I now see why the beast made an appearence. All in all this is a good family restaurant or a great place for date night.
