Great little park with important history. The hours though!! It closes at 430?? It has a nice Little Rock beach to relax on where kids can play and swim. Fishing is ok and there is always enough parking. Spots to access the river are so few around here, and this definitely one of the nicer ones.

Don't waste your time. When I moved to Clarksville a couple years ago, I loved how close this park was to my house. However, it seems silly to even have access to the park these days. Unless you're floating, there isn't much to do & parking is slim. Speaking of, make sure you're back at your vehicle by lunch. It's summer & I see the parking lot locked & gates closed before 5pm.

We were passing through the area and stopped in to visit a old covered bridge that's listed on the registry, a hobby of mine. Ends up the bridge we were looking for was destroyed by a flood in 1998! We asked the Ranger on duty where it was located. He told us the story of how it was destroyed by the flood in the 50's, then rebuilt... just to be destroyed again in 1998. At that point, the state decided not to rebuild again. He said they had made several attempts to get it removed from the list or attach a note that it wasn't there... but no success. We spoke to 2 different attendants while there and both were very friendly and knowledgeable. We were not able to see the old covered bridge, but there is a neat old iron bridge on site. Nice little park!!

I love this place, it has a silence about it that's hard to explain. Yes there was Mother Nature sounds but other than that no other sounds. Hard to believe it was once such a bustling place to be. I'm looking forward to returning and exploring more of what I didn't get to see.

Yes
Absolutely no legal camping is allowed within this park. I’m not sure why other people posted that camping is allowed, but I can assure you that there are no camp grounds at Port Royal State Park.
Good hammock spots could be found along the river, if you were to swim or kayak along the streams. I don't recall any good places that would be right near the shore/drop in point.
You can as part of the From Commerce to Collapse tours offered on the weekends. Tickets can be purchased through the park's website.
dusk they closed dawn they open back up. The ranger station is at the parking area
