The Red Geranium acts like it's something really special, but don't be fooled. The fare is very ordinary; the prices are steep; the service is hit-and-miss. You sit in uncomfortable chairs while the patio door hangs mostly open, leaving the AC to rumble on uselessly. Rhonda valiantly tried to make everything right, but it's plain that something here is profoundly amiss.

Sweet Garden of Prayer

Not our first time here, but typical. We came for dinner and to enjoy jams on the patio. Music was very enjoyable. Dinner... Meh It was 94 degrees, not the restaurant's fault. But, no breeze meant swarms of flies! Three or four would land on your fork as you lifted it to your mouth! Some strategically placed fans and some water bags would fix much of that. (Ask the outdoor Texas BBQ places how to do it, they have it down to a science.) The goat cheese appetizer was tasty, but the bread so hard with it was inedible. The summer salad was nice. Onion soup was tasteless. With A gigantic glob of cheese that was just way too much. Pecan chicken was good, but the broccoli with it was huge, woody, and old. Disappointed. Considering this is an expensive place for the area, it could be improved. Next time, I think we will just come for wine and music and skip the food.

Book my stay at the New Harmony Inn because of this restaurant only to find out the website and Google listing are wrong and they are close Monday - Wednesday. Wish I had stayed elsewhere as now I have no where to eat.

As parents of five, my husband and I don't get out as often anymore as we used to, LoL... however, we LOVE good food, trying new places, frequently returning to the good places, etc. So we were looking for something different to do Saturday night, and a friend/couple had mentioned Red Geranium - so we figure, why not... we also visit New Harmony quite often, as I'm a photographer and my husband loves hiking, etc (so we also visit New Harmonie State Park a lot) anyways, WOW - I am almost at a loss for words to be honest... you are started with dinner rolls and drinks (water on arrival, then we ordered a red wine), then we had fried goat cheese, which imagine a delicious gooey ball of goat cheese, fried - served on a little pond of cranberry sauce, served with bread... then, I had the 6oz bacon wrapped filet, with asparagus and baked potato, and my hubs had the 12oz Ribeye, with broccoli and a baked potato... we also shared a white chocolate creme Brule of some kind... it is hands down, no question, the BEST food, atmosphere, experience, date night over all... we've had in a LONG time (if not ever - as far as locally) it was exceptional!!
