I just want to say that Stover animal shelter went above and beyond to rehome my cousins 4 big dogs. They truly care about their well being. A special thanks to Kim for going to feed and water the dogs and just checking on them until they could get them in foster homes. You made a huge difference and were a life saver for me and these dogs who lost their owner. Thank you again! 😊 You all are the BEST!

Incredible staff, 100% volunteer and they really work to take care of the animals, do responsible adoptions, and community outreach.

They are very sweet people and the pets they have are great. The pets at the shelter are waiting for their forever families. Prices at the thrift store are very low good place to go when searching for treasures!!

The Stover Animal Shelter and Rescue is a well staffed caring facility. Please donate or visit the Thrift Store. Maybe even volunteer. Help is always appreciated.

Questions & Answers

This is an awesome place!! I go over every 2-3 weeks. I love how they take care of these fur babies. I have to quit going down to see the animals. It makes me cry, because they are so loveable. All they want is someone to love. good forever homes.

The Thrift Store is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 11am to 4 pm. The rescue (anything to do with the animals) is only open by appointment. Please call, message on FB, or contact us through our website at stoveranimalrescue.com to let us know you would like to see - or visit about - an animal

Is this a no kill shelter? room for big dogs?

Yes, we are a NO-KILL rescue - the only time an animal would ever be put down is if it were so ill or injured that our consulting vets agree that they cannot be returned to any quality of life. We have limited space (about 12 dogs and 12 cats at a time) at the rescue, but can sometimes assist with rescue through another rescue when we are full. Size is not as important as behaviors around other animals and people.

We have a dog that we can't keep. We get a lot of complaints from our neighbors and yesterday he killed one of the animals on the farm. Can you take him? Is there a fee for that?

We would be able to assist with evaluation of whether we can help with finding a rescue to re-home the dog - or with giving you information on connecting with a dog behavior rehab specialist. Donations are always appreciated; and the behavior trainers have their own sets of fees.
