#exploringmyworld #wilinwithwiley There was a permit required and they had sold out when we arrived. A 1.5 hour drive and disappointment. So be sure to check if you can get a permit before driving. The area was heavily monitored and regulated.

Great hike with beautiful views. The waterfall at the end of the trail is so rewarding. The trail both ways is little bit over five miles. You will need to purchase permit from their website ahead of time.

Had the trail to ourselves this morning. What a beautiful sunrise and tons of fish in the falls!! New wood benches with a bit of shade cover.

We missed the posts that said you had to have a permit. We got there and the sign said there were no more permits left for that day. I checked online anyway and there were plenty of permits. So, don't trust the sign. The rating for the trail said "Difficult". I have hiked difficult trails, this was not one of them. The trail down was a very even steady grade. Once you get near the falls there is a little tiny bit of bouldering, but certainly not difficult. We did this in winter and the weather was perfect for a six mile hike. I could see where summer might get too hot. Bring plenty of water and snacks and you'll be fine. I never would have thought I could find a waterfall out by Ramona, but there it was... cute little falls and a nice place to spend some quiet time.

At cedar creek falls, you are required to purchase a permit. Recreation.gov has a listing. Generally last minute is ok, but I'd recommend at least a couple days beforehand.
It's something to campaign
Almost never.
It's a $6 recreation permit. It's for crowd control and also to ensure everybody who goes knows the rules and is warned about the heat. https://www.recreation.gov/permits/234735
go to recreation.gov it is $6
I tracked it in AllTrails. I had the hike as 5.8 miles/1086ft gain out-and-back. All downhill to the falls, and uphill back to the TH. It was 89 degrees when we climbed back up and brutal! Completely exposed the entire way, but there are two sun shelters along the route.
You can easily ride a full suspension mountain bike down the majority of the trail. However, the last half a mile to the falls is not exactly bike friendly. Be that as it may you can turn off before the falls trailhead for some good biking, but there is definitely an unrelenting climb back up.
If you could bring a stroller then this would be a walk. It is a hike so strollers would not work. There are some steep areas, crossing a stream, and rough terrain.
Last I heard it's closed till June 26th
Yes, but please understand its a difficult hike. Please take at least 1 gallon of water per person and avoid trail when temp over 90 degrees. Multiple rescues and deaths occur here during the hot summer months.
Not for a light shower, but the river crossing maybe deeper. You'll still need the permit to do the hike
I believe u can go now.. I think u might need to buy a permit though
https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/cleveland/recreation/camping-cabins there is the option for dispersed camping in the gorge or other wilderness areas. Backcountry permit required.
Yes it now open. Hike there yesterday 3/25/2019
At a steady pace you can expect an hour down and an extra half hour tacked on coming back up. In the heat you might expect to add another half our on top of that. Honestly though, stop every few sign posts to take in the scenery and snap a picture or two. :)
Anyone is allowed to hike the trail with a valid permit. You can buy one on Recreation.gov for $6.00 per 5 people. All names of those attending must be on the permit and valid IDs must be carried along with a printed copy of the permit.
US Forestry Service.gov...wilderness permit...yes ??? Good Luck
