Fascinating details about the cemetery being pushed back to make way for the street. Hence the grave markers in the sidewalk.

I love this place. So peaceful and full of history. I love the plaques with all the information on them. There is a list of names of people buried through out Old Town and spots of unmarked graves. It is well taken care of, gifts are left for some of the graves. I enjoy this place so much and come as often as I can. This last time I came at night, it was a real treat to experience it in another light. (Also, “Yankee” Jim is buried here. He is one of the spirits said to haunt the Whaley and Crosthwaite house. Which is just a few yards down the road.)

Extremely old and historical cemetery right in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Old Town San Diego. Simply amazing to walk around and pay your respects to some of the founding ancestors of the city. A must see if you are in Old Town San Diego. We have a full review on our blog site and YouTube channel for this cemetery.

Beautiful historic cemetery in Old Town. Some markers are even on the side walk. A must see.

I agree the dead should be respected regardless.
