DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! We drove an hour to go to dinner at Barnacle Bistro because a friend recommended it. After reading the very mixed reviews we decided we would try it out. It was a very WINDY evening so we chose to sit inside. Our waitress Becky was very put out that I asked not to sit in the tall chairs (due to health reasons). I put that out of my mind and we sat down at the table where she pointed to. The wind was whipping my hair around and I couldn’t read the menu so I closed the window a bit and ordered my food. I love fish and chips. I was excited to try a new place. I ordered the fish and requested garlic fries (which is also my favorite). Our food came fairly quickly and noticed my fish perched on my fries. I know from other experiences that this results in soggy fries so I quickly separated everything. Too late. My fries were already soggy (under cooked!). Flavor was good-ish very under salted. I picked up my fish and liquid drained onto my plate I used my napkins to soak it up as not to make my already soggy fries worse. This is when Becky comes by and flings my window back open. And says we need this open to get air to the kitchen. I say but my food will get cold with the wind blowing on it. She blows me off and my husband suggests I move over to his side of the table where I sat and ate my $19.00 cold soggy fish and fries. If this is the “BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN GOLD BEACH” I’m so sorry for gold beach. Thanks Becky. At least the Diet Pepsi was good.

We were a larger group. They don't have large tables. We were offered two smaller tables which was fine, but we were informed we would be charged a mandatory gratuity for being a large party... I am ok with this when we can be sat together and share dishes like a larger party generally does, but when separated this does not make sense to me as we are not able to do that. That being said mandatory gratuity to me makes no sense because they are undertipping themselves from what I normally tip anyway. The approach was the bigger issue in this case. Our waitress was great. The food was good. If we were local we would go back despite the approach at the beginning. The fish and chips (we got the garlic fries) were delicious. Garlic fries were amazing! The coleslaw had little to no dressing on it was the only downside to the meal.

This place was amazing! The Crab Dip and Fish & Chips were soooooo good! The waiter is very attentive as well. Food was hot and fresh.

Candied Jalapeno Burger & Garlic Fries are absolutely delicious! the meat, the cheese and jalapeños, the bun… yum! with all the fresh fixings on the side to build it to your liking & then those garlic fries… yum x 10! Side note if you really want a happy ending try their desert that’s listed on their “Specials” board above their kitchen area. This trip we shared a cream brûlée that was out of this world delicious! thank you so much for everything & well done. We travel to Gold Beach about 4 times a year to actually relax for a long weekend and to make a trip to the Barnacle Bistro, it’s that good. From the seafood to the land creatures and all the fixings & sides it’s as fresh and preservatives free as it gets, mine & my family’s sensitive stomachs all agree with this. The service has always been excellent & very personable which we really appreciate & the dining area is a good spot to continue our relaxing and enjoy some mellow tunes & an amazing meal, it’s all good at the Bistro.
