Trails were rugged but well maintained. I went after a storm the night before, so some of the wet areas were slick. Still I had a great time and enjoyed the landscape. Definitely recommend this park for the nature lover. I saw a deer, a few squirrels, a fish jump and a couple mulberry trees. Even with a heat advisory in the area it was nice under the shade of the canopy.

Semi challenging trails through beautiful, mixed deciduous/ pine forest and sandstone cliffs. There is an awesome natural spillway with cascades, but lake access is restricted, requiring a permit.

Not a very well known place but it has everything the better known parks have. Well maintained trails, a lake and a waterfall. I'm glad that visited Lake Katharine.

Lake Katharine is a wonderful place to enjoy mother nature's beauty will taking a leisurely hike. You feel a sense of adventure as you imagine kayaking down the beautiful creek that has magnificent cliffs that makes you want to learn how to rock climb. It is A hidden treasure that I just discovered. I plan on spending a lot of my days exploring her beauty.

No pets allowed at Lake Katherine
No
No! Only need a permit to fish from a boat. Those are hard to get though, or so I have been told. No fishing allowed from the banks of course. The Calico trail is my favorite this time of year because of all the flowers but you should see plenty of them from all the trails. Would recommend bug replent because ticks are out now! There is a good chance of getting to see plenty of local wildlife at Lake Katharine too!
