Great hike! It's up and down about 2.5 miles.

Amazing hike, 1.1mile up, we hiked it with our 4 kids who are pretty great at hiking so we didn’t have any problems. The trail is marked plenty well for you not get lost. I noticed someone else mentioned it’s hard to be socially distant but it’s a trail not a roadway so you have to expect that. Most people move to the side or you move to allow people to pass-everyone we encountered was pleasant and kind! Also this was the first time we spotted deer on the hike! I’ve hiked it about 20 times and this last time was my first time seeing them! I hope you try it out and enjoy!!

Difficult and so rewarding! We hiked this before sunrise with our three kids, 10,11,& 15. kids did great & beat us up there. It is quite steep but i never felt like i had to hold on while climbing or anything. i had to pace myself and take a couple breaks along the way. The views are beautiful, there were two distinct false summits but so worth it to go to the very top. It took us about 45 - 50 min to reach the top and made it just in time for the sun rise. There were several cuts off the main trail but they all end up together and didn't really seem to save any time. Bring plenty of water.

Rated difficult for a reason! But the view is worth it. Being close to Anthem and having good views, this 2.2 mile round trip hike is a good choice to do if you don't have a lot of time to drive to the national forests, but want to do a difficult hike with good views. The elevation gain of over 1100 ft means that most of the hike is directly up. If you have bad knees, it will be very brutal on the way down. There is a free parking area on the street at the bottom of the hill, to the right I believe it was called Marsh or Mark st. The views were totally worth it! Complete 360. You can see the continental divide in the distance and the whole city beneath you. Gorgeous! Worth the trip!

Questions & Answers

Are there trail heads for atv and utvs

This trail is for hiking only. It is too narrow, steep and rocky for ATVs or UTV's.

Does the trail really open at 9am?

Like most trails, hours are usually dawn to dusk, which changes with the seasons. Though I am sure of you wanted to hike it at midnight you could as there are no gates, facilities, or personnel. Google does not have those options as most businesses do not rotate hours like a park or trail. There are no days that this trail is closed.
