My wife and I have donated to BBBS for years - like 20+; it was one of our favorite charities to support. However, something has happened this year that is making them a serious challenge to work with. We've been trying to donate a bunch of high quality products/clothing to them since March (4+ months), but it has been one failure after another. Either getting them to setup a pick up, or executing a pick up has proven to be beyond their currently capabilities. When speaking with them, a very difficult thing to accomplish by the way, they have no reasoning behind these issues beyond they are busy. Not to sound too negative, but how busy are they if they are routinely missing and/or skipping pick ups? Wouldn't it be better to work smarter, not just harder? I'm not the only one, my brothers and sisters donate too and have been experiencing the same problems. They either do not pick up or do not follow directions and use that as an excuse for not picking up. Example: Today we had the packages on our side porch (the location we've been putting them for at least the last 10 years and have instructed them such), but today they stopped in front of my house, took a picture and drove off. In March, they stopped at the side driveway, but never got out of the truck - we had stupidly put the packages on the ground, closer to where they would be, but they only looked at the door and then drove off. Donating to a charity is not supposed to be this difficult. I think it is time to shift to a charity that is actually serious about its donations.

I called Big brother Big sister and scheduled a donation. My daughter and I hauled 15 heavy bags/boxes outside by 7am. I called during the day just to double check that we were on the list. The woman said we were. They never showed up! What a waste of time. I have donated to the veterans association before so I scheduled a pickup with them. I read a review from another reviewer and she said she called them and just got excuses. So I am not even going to bother calling.

This would have been the 4th time I had donated to BBBS. I scheduled my pick up both online and by phone, the same way I did for the other 3 times. I lugged 15 boxes out to my front porch only to come home from work and find them all still there. I called to ask what happened and the person who answered asked me a script of questions. I finally realized she was looking for an excuse as to why my items were not picked up. When she asked if the boxes were labeled, I told her that each box said "Donate" and some were marked fragile. I was then told that they had to be labeled BBBS or they couldn't take them because people get deliveries and they couldn't just take boxes.. I would have felt much better if she had just been honest and said that someone screwed up and we're sorry they didn't show up. There is no way these boxes could have been mistaken for deliveries. They were all piled together and each clearly said "Donate". I am so disappointed in BBBS! The pick ups went well the prior 3 times I donated so I don't know what happened this time but I won't be donating to them again.

When are you open for pick ups
me
I can help you there. Yes! When you schedule a pickup, you should request the b driver to leave you a receipt. You do have to fill it out yourself though.
At the end of March. We were just in Avon last week, sorry we missed you. I will get an exact date for you by end of week. We are growing and modifying our schedule. You folks in Avon have been most generous to BBBS over the years. Thanks!! I will contact you soon with a date.
