Beautiful park, just wish they would fully open the back area for fishing and boat ramps

Great little hidden gem. While other kayak launch spots are packed this one has very little traffic. Drive up and drop kayak into the launch and park just a few feet away. Slide right off the launch and right into the canal that leads to the Gulf or explore many of the offshoots in the area. With a little help from navigation you can even find your way to the clear springs of Weeki Wachi.

My husband found this spot while he was fishing. He took a friend out to scope it out...and was so excited to show me the manatees here! We even got to watch one swim alongside us. Very active with wildlife and kayaking. They even have a kayak ramp to make getting in and out and launching easy! (We didn't see this until after we launched...but still cool) definitely look for it! Looks a bit like a handicapped device....across the way from the actual boat ramp. Park on the other side. There's a waterway between the two sections of park, its there, off the end of a short dock. Just put your kayak on it, sit, and easily pull yourself into the water using your oar on the top of the device.

Nice way to launch your kayak. Can't get into Jenkins Creek at the time of this review, as they are working on the bridge at the north end of the park, and have floating barricades on both sides of the bridge. When bridge work is finished, this will be a great way to kayak Jenkins. Manatees were in there when we were around.
