The office of finance, Van Nuys location, list it’s closing hours on the website as being 5 PM. However when I arrived at 4:30 PM and 10 seconds, I was not allowed in. There was a policeman holding the door preventing anyone from entering. He would not let me in even though it was not 5 o’clock yet. He said the cut off was 430. I was 10 seconds past 4 30. I observed someone else go in through the door before me. If the office wants to close at 4:30 PM, it should list that on the website. Otherwise disgruntled constituents will continue to show up at the door for 30 minutes taking time out of their day and their business activities in order to be turned away. This is terrible customer service. It’s fine if they want to close early, but they should tell people!

I attempted contacting the L.A. City Office of Finance via email. EIGHT days later, still no response. This is outright, embarrassing Los Angeles. I decided to give them a call last Tuesday, there is a 450+ persons waiting line. ಠ_ಠ They did call me back...at 8AM. (I was still sleeping) Just like every facet of the government in LA, this department is much of a joke as the next.

What a horrible government creation. They email you a bill and expect that you have received it. Then they charge you late fees and penalties when you never got it. Who is stupid enough to actually open emails from supposed government offices?? - there are too many fakes out there wanting to scam you... the government should only send you bills by US Federal Mail. That is what it is for!

They send us business tax renewal forms every year but we can never get in contact with anyone to conduct business....and the mailbox is ALWAYS full....Is this some kind of scam?!?!?!?!? Horrible.....0 Stars....

Just call them up or go directly to the City of Los Angeles Office of Finance and inform them you are no longer in business, just be advised that if you do report cash income on your personal tax return even if working at home the city will require that you maintain a City Business License
If you go into the office they will get it for you.
